The Furore Fjord: One of the Most Enchanting Spots on the Amalfi Coast

Nestled among the spectacular cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, the Furore Fjord is one of Italy's most fascinating hidden gems. The houses, built from local stone, are often decorated with murals depicting stories of daily life and village traditions. These murals, part of an artistic project started in the 1980s, add a touch of vibrancy and culture to the village's narrow streets. One of the famous legends from Campania that envelops the fjord is about the "Janara," a witch who lived in these lands and frightened the inhabitants with her spells every full moon. Even today, during local festivals, stories of witches and spirits are told, keeping the local folklore alive.



At the base of the fjord, there is a small pebble beach, accessible via a steep staircase that descends along the rocky wall. This beach, with its clear and tranquil waters, is the perfect place for a refreshing swim or to relax away from the crowds of the more popular Amalfi Coast beaches. One of the most iconic elements of the Furore Fjord is the arched bridge that spans the gorge. Built in the 19th century, the bridge stands about 30 meters above sea level and is the perfect vantage point to admire the fjord’s beauty from above. Every year, the bridge hosts one of the stages of the World High Diving Championship, a spectacular event that attracts athletes and spectators from around the world.
