Muang Boran, the largest open-air museum in the world

Muang Boran, translated "Ancient City", is a museum park in Thailand located in Samut Prakan, just outside of Bangkok. This is not an amusement park, but instead is a real-life open-air museum where the most famous monuments of the country are replicated. The site is filled with scale models and replicas of some of the most important ancient ruins of Thai architecture.

The site is created in the shape of Thailand with a span of ??about 96 hectares, which is covered in 116 statues that have been placed in their actual geographical location. The park was built by Lek Viriyaphan, an eccentric and wealthy arts-loving businessman. His intention was to create a golf course surrounded by miniatures of some of the most traditional Thai buildings, but during the works he modified the scope of the project to create a place that preserves the artistic and cultural memory of the nation.

The area of ??the park is very large and can be visited by bicycle or by renting a golf cart. It can also be accessed by car. Free audio guides in many languages ??are available at the entrance. All other information regarding timetables, costs and any organized tours, can be found on the official website: https://www.muangboranmuseum.com/
